From 08.05. - 13.05.2020 the 2nd International Conductors‘ Competition will take place in Augsburg. In the context of the 20th anniversary of Germany’s (and Austria’s) first professorship of symphonic wind band conducting and the 50th anniversary of the University of Augsburg, conductors prove their abilities to an international expert jury. Special focus will be on the conductors‘ versatility - they are to conduct various forms of orchestras:

First round: The Symphonic Wind Band of the professorship of symphonic wind band conducting, University of Augsburg  
Second round: Liberty Brass Band (Switzerland)  
Semi-final (professional symphony orchestra): Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra  
Final (professional symphonic wind band): The Concert Band of the German Armed Forces

Repertoire examples:

For symphonic wind band e.g. „Lord of the Rings“ – Johan de Meij and for symphony orchestra pieces by Richard Strauss and Ludwig van Beethoven.

The competition has no age restriction, languages during the rounds of the competition will be German and English. We are looking for conductors of all orchestral forms (symphony orchestra, symphonic wind band, fanfare band and brass band).
